Mata Pequena Village, a rustic village 1 hour from Cascais

Index

On 11/07/2021 we took a day trip from Cascais to a place called Small Forest Village.

The village

It is a typical saloia village located in Mafra. I had read in some blogs which was an interesting place to go with the kids because there was a farm with some animals, so when the wind ruined our plans for a Sunday walk in a forest in Sintra, our backyard, we headed there.

As their own website says, the “Aldeia da Mata Pequena is a small rural village with a dozen houses, where people still live in communion with nature and breathe peace and authenticity”. It’s a really small place, super quiet and reminiscent of the past, but it left something to be desired because the “farm” I wanted to visit with my son is only available to those staying in the Village. The blogs didn’t mention this information…

If you want to stay there and forget about the stress of the big or medium-sized city, take a look here.

Our tour in photos

It was worth the trip because we were already on the road near Mafra, but it's not a place that I think is worth the 40-minute trip each way, you know? It's worth stopping if you're nearby, because it's really cute, check it out:
