Who We Are

I'm Fernanda, Brazilian, engineer, wife of Marcelo, mother of Patrick and Júlia, and this little corner is my travel and outing diary.

I was born in Salvador, Bahia, where I lived for 13 years, then I lived in Rio de Janeiro for another 14, spent some time in Darien (Connecticut, USA), and moved to Dublin (Ireland) with Celo, where we stayed for almost 4 years. Since 2019, we have lived in Portugal with our little ones, but I confess that I still want to live in many other places, much to my husband's despair.

I don't have much patience or interest in sharing our lives on social media, so we always travel offline, and when we return from trips and have time, I write about them on the blog. Every now and then I say hi on Facebook or Instagram just to show we're alive. 🙂

I really enjoy reading novels, planning travel itineraries, swimming in warm pools, eating well in no-frills restaurants, recording our best moments and, of course, spending practically all my free time with my beloved family.

The blog

I started the blog in 2012 writing about our month-long trips together, the "backpacking trips," and then I started recording the smaller trips, the "backpacking trips," hence the name M&M. My goal has always been to document our adventures as much as possible so that we could travel again whenever we stopped to read them. posts, so you'll see super detailed articles and of course, with lots of photos – which I love.

All the photos are ours, and I must confess that most are taken in less than 3 seconds, without much preparation or fuss, with our Motorola cell phones. I can't understand people who pose and carry thousands of pieces of equipment to capture their places, much less those who travel only to take photos. We are the opposite, thank God.

You won't see any ads here, as I don't like the visual chaos of online advertising. I like visiting websites and seeing the content created by the author. If I want to buy something, I go to the store's website and buy it. However, I do share our partners' links. It's through these links that you, dear reader, can help us by booking tours, insurance, hotels, and cars. With each reservation made, we earn a nominal commission, and you don't pay anything extra. We're thrilled with every penny earned, so if you can help us, high five to you!

Our travels summarized

So far, we've traveled to 38 countries in South America, Central America, North America, Europe, Oceania, and Africa. You'll find them all in the blog's main menu.

While we lived in Rio, we did our 1-month backpacking trips without kids through South America, Central America, and Oceania, as well as other trips nearby.

In October 2014, we moved to Ireland and spent almost four years taking advantage of Ryanair's promotions to explore Europe, Africa, and North America. Once again, it was just us, childless.

Since 2018, travel has become more about bringing little ones on board, and as a result, the pace and comfort level have changed a bit. We don't enjoy all-inclusive hotels or kids' clubs when we travel, but we do enjoy the pool, look for playgrounds, research delicious restaurants, and combine as many attractions as possible for us and our children. It has to be comfortable for everyone, right?

We're SO enjoying exploring the world with our loved ones, and you can follow practically everything here. I hope it inspires you!
