We moved from Ireland to Cascais in 2019 with only one certainty: WE WILL EAT VERY WELL AND CHEAPLY IN THIS LAND! Since then, happily, that's what we've been doing in the countless restaurants in our city. 🙂
If you want to know what to visit in Cascais, read the article Our 10 favorite places in Cascais.
Whenever we can, we escape from our kitchen and go out to explore what's nearby. There are many places still unexplored, but of all the ones we've tried, these are our TOP 10, not necessarily in this order:
Avillez's Corner
I've lost count of how many times I've been to this beautiful restaurant in the historic center of Cascais and how many times I've ordered from UBER EATS in the comfort of my own home. I think the dishes created by chef Avillez are perfectly balanced, beautiful and affordable, so why not come back whenever I can, right? The explosive olives with cod, the Tagliatelle with shrimp and the Moqueca de Corvina are my favorite dishes there. I recommend it!

Seafood in the Square (Marina)
This is one of the most expensive restaurants on this list and we only go there when we want to celebrate special dates and spend time with our dear guests who have come from all over the world. Our idea is for them to fall in love with Cascais and move very close to us. It's a good idea to start by winning over their stomachs, right?
This restaurant is also located in the Cascais Town Market, but it is much more charming and has a much better view of the Marina. Its specialty is seafood and the counter right at the entrance with a variety of seafood and fish always catches the attention of children and adults alike.
I recommend the Clams a Bulhão Pato, the Prawns à Guilho and the Prawn Curry with white rice. Everything is delicious!

Saiko
Our beloved Japanese that we try to attend weekly while the kids are in school. It's our safe place, you know? We always go for the executive lunch that costs less than 20 euros with a starter, a 16-piece combo, a glass of wine and coffee. The lovely waitress Laura already knows us and knows that we always order the same things, so we just sit there, nod and wait for our dishes to arrive. We love the atmosphere, the service from her and the owner too, and the food, of course.

New Star
You know that restaurant with delicious food, a small space, quirky decor, and a grandma as the owner of the place? Well, that's right. My mother-in-law discovered it in 2022 and since then we've always gone back with the kids. It's right in the middle of Cascais, in the area known as Rua Amarela, but it has a family atmosphere and is much less popular than its neighbors. The owner is an elderly lady who welcomes families when they bring children, and makes a point of giving away ice cream and candy as gifts to make the little ones happy. I think the decor with clocks and paintings everywhere and colorful tables with objects made by her is really cool.
We always order the couvert, the Polvo a Lagareiro and their children's dish, which the kids love. Everything is well served and relatively quickly. They only accept cash, so be prepared.

Blue Lambretta
When I asked a dear Italian friend what her favorite pizzeria in Cascais was in 2019, she told me Lambretazurra. I was excited to try the restaurant and also order pizza at home, but then when I found out that they don't deliver and only take away, I confess that I was a little disappointed.
I've been to the restaurant a few times, but when I have, I've loved it. The owner is a Brazilian who lived in Naples for many years, and I think his family is the one who helps him run the place. They only open for dinner, are located above the carousel in the central square of Cascais and unfortunately don't have much space, so it's a bit difficult to go with children – that's why I don't go there very often.

(I forgot to take a picture there the times I went. I'll go back and update here!!)
Guincho Caves
This restaurant is located in a beautiful area of Cascais known as Guincho, which is full of great options for those who want to eat well in the city. This must be the most emblematic of them and it is always crowded when we pass by, so I strongly recommend that you make a reservation. We have been there a few times already, and certainly the most special time was right after our civil wedding, on November 11, 2020.
The service is very good, the view of the sea crashing against the rocks is spectacular and the food is top notch too. The prices are higher than in the previous restaurants, but it is worth it. It really is a place to impress anyone.

Palate of the Guide
This restaurant is located inside the Guide House, which is a delightful place in Cascais that has several restaurants and shops. It's a place we usually go to whenever we have visitors, because it's very pleasant, has OK prices and offers beautiful views of the sea. This restaurant has a very varied menu and the typical dishes of the region are very tasty. The service is usually good, and children can play in the area full of pebbles, but you can only go there if it's not raining.

Tide
We only went once and I was completely enchanted by the decor and the view of this restaurant. Everything is spectacular and everything is brand new, since it was opened in the first half of this year (2023) by chef Avillez. The service was confusing when we went, because that was exactly when they opened the place, but the food was delicious and that's what matters, right? Oh, and we loved the treat for the kids (photo below). Restaurant child friendly, finally!
We want to go back calmly and preferably without children so we can eat in peace and enjoy the beautiful view of the place. I recommend that you reserve a table before you go, because it looks like it's going to be a hit!

Izakaya
Another restaurant in the center of Cascais, right in the heart of the famous Rua Amarela. I've only been once with Celo, but we're already thinking about going back because we loved the dishes we ordered. Izakaya means in Japanese a place to have a drink, eat a snack, or have a drink. snack and get comfortable. It's a Japanese bar with a cool atmosphere and about 20 chairs around the counter/kitchen where we can watch everything being prepared while we enjoy our company.
The chef is Tiago Penão, who also owns the more upscale Kappo restaurant a little further up the street, but which I didn't particularly love, despite the food being really good value. I thought the service was bad, the atmosphere wasn't very welcoming, I don't know...
We ordered several dishes, but I remember loving the pork belly dishes the most. Go and let me know what you think.

Shower Bar
Looking for a restaurant to go to after the beach without having to make too much effort to get around? I recommend Duche Bar! We usually go to Praia da Duquesa with the kids because it has easy parking, is small and has few waves and wind, and whenever we can, we stop for lunch at this restaurant right in front of the beach.
We already have our favorite table on the terrace and whenever we go, we order Gambas à Guilho and Polvo a Lagareiro, which is one of the family's favorite dishes and the most typical of Cascais. The price is OK for its privileged location, so we think it's worth going every now and then. We're excited because they'll soon open a space with a sea view on the top floor, right next to the parking lot. We'll definitely be going there!
