You know those lists of the most beautiful places to visit? Well… The ones I’ve seen in Spain have always listed Setenil of Las Bodegas and Round in Andalusia as unmissable places and now that I know both, I can say that they are really worth it.
Round
We went to Ronda on a 1-week trip through Andalusia in 2015 with my mother-in-law and were enchanted by the cliffs, white houses and cute little streets. I told you all about our trip there in this post:
But since this post is about the other city mentioned above, let's get to the point. 🙂
Setenil of Las Bodegas
We took a trip from Cascais to Sierra Nevada and I made sure to include this charming village in our itinerary. We rented a very central apartment with a spectacular view – the El Balcon de La Roca (grade 9.4) – we slept there one night and loved everything.
What makes Setenil so special is the fact that some of its houses and buildings are literally built under huge limestone rocks. In some cases, these rocks serve as natural roofs, providing shade and protection, and this all creates an atmosphere of charm and mystery. It is really interesting to stroll through the streets, but I confess that the experience would be much more pleasant if cars were not allowed in the center, because we could be at peace with the children running free and also enjoy the silence of the place.
We only had one meal in the village, which was a dinner with tapas and local wines, and we were all very happy to have discovered such a unique place.

I highly recommend that you stop by there without rushing! 🙂
