Day 9 – Sunday (08/28/2022)

Celão's birthday, the love of my life and my children's lives!! <3

We woke up with lots of pampering for dad and then we went to have a very tasty breakfast at our accommodation near Águeda, Alzira's House, in the dining room with a huge table shared by all the guests. We packed our things, walked around the garden with the children, which is impeccable, we did checkout and then we drove to Nazareth, where the birthday boy wanted to have seafood for lunch.

Having lunch in Nazaré

We reserved a table at the restaurant Pangea by the sea, which is located on the seafront avenue and had great reviews on TripAdvisor, but when we got there, we were unpleasantly surprised that they didn't have a highchair for babies. There's nothing more annoying than having lunch without being able to put Ju in a safe chair for her. I get stressed because I can't eat well with her on my lap, she keeps wanting to walk around all the time or touch everything on the table, in short, it's not a pleasant experience, in other words, everything I didn't want for hubby's birthday lunch. If I had known they didn't have a highchair, I wouldn't have made a reservation. 🙁

We sat on the terrace and I thought we would see the sea, but I forgot that the sand in Nazaré is huuuuge and that's why watching the waves while eating is not an option. Even so, despite these two disappointments, I liked the service and I thought the food was tasty and well presented, but I wouldn't go back there, especially because Celo felt sick after eating pasta with mussels.

Returning home and trip summary

After we were satisfied, we went to play a little in the sand to tire the children out and then got in the car again, this time to go back home to Cascais.

So good to be back, right? 🙂

In short: A very busy trip with the kids, unexpected heat, beautiful and welcoming cities, lots of delicious food, a lot of time on the road with a 1 and a half year old baby, little time at the pool/beach, lots of “homes in heaven”, some of my mom’s outbursts over unexpected events, jarred food for juju, small accommodations better than big hotels, lots of snacks in the car, viewpoints with beautiful views, restaurants without baby seats, repetitive breakfasts, lots of improvised dinners, a lot of patience from grandma with the kids in the car (thanks, aunt!!). In short, lots of lessons learned, but lots of memories built, which is what matters. <3
