6 days in Itacimirim and Guarajuba, in Bahia

Index

Whenever we visit family in Rio de Janeiro, I think about how to fit in a trip to my beloved homeland, Bahia. This time was no different: we managed to go to Itacimirim and Guarajuba at the end of our stay in Brazil, and it was worth it to recharge our batteries to start 2020 - and to get through the pandemic with peace of mind.

We spent 6 days in Itacimirim in a rented house in the condominium Itacimirim Beach Villas, between Forte Beach and Guarajuba, about 1 hour drive from the airport Savior and we loved it! This Booking link is for you to see only the condominium, because our house wasn't like that, you know?

We rented our house through a dear aunt, who also has a house in this place, and we loved our stay. This condominium has semi-detached houses of various sizes, a swimming pool for adults and children, a soccer field, a playroom for children, a playground, a very well-kept garden and, best of all, it faces the sea. We had the help of a wonderful maid, Dona Nalva, who took care of the cleaning of the house and prepared delicious typical Bahian food for the whole family. She is a real find!!!

*** You can send me a message and I'll give you the contact details of the owner of the house we rented and Nalvinha too. I forgot to take pictures of the house, but the owner of the house, Dona Rosa, can send them to you via Whatsapp and they are very up-to-date. ***

Our routine

We spent these days traveling between the main beaches of Itacimirim – Praia da Espera, mainly – our condominium, my very fun uncle's house, and of course, my favorite bar in Guarajuba, 15 minutes from Itacimirim, Mayor's Bar.

We ended up going there twice and if Nalvinha hadn’t prepared delicious meals for us, I would have been happy to go every day, because the food and service were top-notch. We really enjoyed the warm sea water and let Patrick have fun in the water and on the sand for the first time without feeling the cold. Is there anything better in life, people? Oh, and of course we put on sunscreen and wore hats during the worst times, because the sun in Bahia is “a blast”.

Some very relaxing photos, look:

It was a delight to spend those days there with my family, my mother-in-law, my childhood friend and her family. It warmed my heart and I left there wanting more. I hope we have more trips like this and that the next ones are longer, please! 🙂

The best photo of the trip

Now the best photo of the trip and the one I made sure to leave as teaser on social media about this post:

Anyone who sees it like this would think he hated crab, right? Of course!

That disgusted look on his face is because he hates dirt and always wants to clean, tidy up, and throw trash in the trash, so he obviously wanted a clean plate so he could have more. He loved crab, lambreta (for those who don't know, it's a DELICIOUS mollusk that lives inside two shells), shrimp moqueca, octopus salad, coalho cheese, and even acarajé!!! Is this boy my son or not? A beautiful, beautiful thing from his mother!!! <3

PS. I had never given him any of these foods before, but since I always ate them and breastfed afterwards and never saw any reaction, I thought it was time to let go. What a relief!!!

If you happen to want to travel to Itacimirim, I recommend the trips to Guarajuba and Praia do Forte as well.

  1. Hello!
Are the photos from Guarajuba or Itacimirim beach? Which one has the calmest sea?
Please send me Mrs. Dalva’s contact details!
    Grateful,
    Vanusia

    1. Hello!! There are photos of both beaches…lol. In both places there are calm and lively beaches…you have to find where the natural pools are to find calm water.

I'll email you Nalva's phone number.
