11/08/2020 – Tuesday
We left our hotel in Praia da Luz, LuzMar Villas, and we went to visit the Amado and Bordeira Beaches, still in the Algarve, which were highly recommended in our travel guides and blogs about the Vicentine Coast. After a hearty breakfast, we drove for about 40 minutes to Amado Beach and of course the little one ended up falling asleep on the way.
Amado Beach
We parked in the beach parking lot and as we had already read it was ideal for surf – and we’re not surfers at all lol – we weren’t even that excited to wake up the little guy and go down. Just look at the view:
Between Amado Beach and Bordeira Beach
He continued sleeping and we continued along the little road along the seafront between Amado Beach and the Bordeira Beach, stopping at several viewpoints with spectacular views.
This little road (write it down!) with the viewpoints marked with letters was a very pleasant surprise. Here are some stunning photos:
Lunch stop
After some time walking around and taking lots of beautiful photos, we started to get hungry and the little one woke up, so we thought it would be a good idea to stop for lunch. We looked at the restaurant options in the area on TripAdvisor and ended up choosing #1 in the city of Carrapateira, the MicroBar.
We arrived at the place about 15 minutes before opening and took the opportunity to play in the little square where this mini restaurant/kiosk is located. We loved the simple, light and very tasty dishes of the place, but I confess that I expected more from the service, especially since it is the #1 in the region.
Bordeira Beach
We then went straight to the Bordeira Beach, which I had already marked on my list as one of the best beaches in the region for children and which is really quite pleasant. We parked the car in a parking lot that seemed good at the time (it was really full!), but which in the end was veeeery far from where we were on the beach (red arrow).
I think if I went back there, I would stop where I marked with the green star, because despite it being uphill, the walk on the sand is much shorter.
We stayed on the left side of the beach, enjoying a small pool that had formed, and spent a good few hours enjoying the place. It was so peaceful! If you want to swim in the river, you can also enjoy the Ribeira da Carrapateira, which is on the left side, but we preferred to stay in the sea. Oh, of course the water was freezing, but after a few hours in the sun, you can dive in. Have faith!
When the tide began to rise, we packed our things and returned to the hotel, where we took a shower and had dinner in the hotel's own restaurant. The plan was all you can eat buffet and served us perfectly. No stress with parking spaces or waiting in line…
The next day we left for our hotel in New Town of Milfontes, where we spent 5 days exploring the region. Click this link to read the rest of the trip.
