Are you looking for a different and cool place with good options for restaurants, art and shops? LX Factory could be your answer. 🙂
What is LX Factory
LX Factory is a cultural and creative complex located in Lisbon, Portugal, specifically in the parish of Alcântara. This space has become one of the most vibrant and dynamic destinations in the city, attracting both tourists and locals. It currently occupies the premises of a former 19th century textile factory, called Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, which later housed other industries. In 2008, the complex was revitalized and transformed into a multifunctional space, maintaining the original industrial aesthetic, which contributes to its unique charm.
How to get there from Lisbon
If you are in Praça do Comércio in Lisbon, you can take tram 15E or bus 760 to get there. It will take about 20 minutes, depending on traffic.
If you go by car, there is a parking lot on the street right next door, but the spaces are usually very competitive. When I go by car, I usually park in an underground parking lot that is inside the Consulate General of Angola, very close by. I always found a space and it wasn't very expensive.
What you will find there
- Creative Workspaces: LX Factory is home to a range of companies from design, architecture, fashion, advertising and other creative industries, serving as a hub for innovative professionals.
- Shops and Boutiques: The complex has several independent shops selling everything from clothes and accessories to home decor and books.
- Gastronomy: There is a wide range of dining options, including cafes, bars and restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, from traditional Portuguese to international cuisine.
- Art and Culture: The space is known for its art exhibitions, installations and cultural events. There are also murals and graffiti decorating the walls, contributing to the artistic atmosphere of the place.
- Markets and Fairs: LX Factory regularly organizes markets and fairs, such as the LX Market street market, where local artists and artisans can sell their products.
- Events: The place hosts several events, such as concerts, lectures, workshops and theatrical performances, becoming a meeting point for cultural and social activities.

Places I recommend
I've been to some restaurants for lunch, eaten brigadeiros and sweet rolls in specialized stores, had drinks in bars in rooftop overlooking the 25 de Abril bridge and I almost – phew – went shopping in a very colorful store and left my kidney there. Here are my recommendations:
- Borogodo
- Matchamama
- Mex Factory
- Brigadeiro
- LX Hostel Rooftop
